Stone Sculptures

Sculpture is a process of pulling my soul out of the stone and making it real, solid, perhaps the fact that sculpting stone is part of the Art is not a privilege it is part of the human DNA. What I pull from stone is merely my search for that part of the humanity, that essential essence. There is art everywhere in our lives, no matter what we call it. At some level it is like breathing, necessary to the health of everyone. I create art because that is what I do. I hope that on some level it will touch the humanity in each of us and set us free.
Dessert Thunder - $995
A cloud of carved limestone hangs over dessert sandstone as lighting bolts of aluminum and brass streak from the clouds held up with stainless steel rods of rain interspersed with aluminum wire. This piece was inspired by a drive through the southwest watching the afternoon storms rolling down out of the clear, hot summer sky.

Cliffs and Caves - $195
This small piece created from shards of Marble and Sandstone is reminiscent of the cave dwellings of the southwest. The white of the Yule marble against the layers of the Arizona sandstone reminds me of the sharp shadows and brilliant sun of the southwestern landscape.
Size: 5X11X3
Black Torso - $995
In the Belgium black limestone of this sculpture the remnants of the fossils can still be seen. This is one of the most obvious differences between marble and limestone. Here is Every woman depicted in all her beauty and scar, standing strong under the blows of life.
Size: 15 x 10 x 7 inches

Wind Goddess - $1095
The translucence of the anhydrite gives this stone carving its ethereal quality. Evocative of wind swept clouds, it is a sailors homage to the goddess of the wind, a thank you for the safe days passage. The Face rides above a piece of Basalt, polished in some areas and left the texture that nature created in others.
Size: 7X12X7
Breaking Wave 2 - $250

Breaking Wave #1 - $995
This carve sweep of Italian Alabaster breaking over the smoothed surface of Alaskan Fossilized Coral shimmers as if on the edge of shattering and falling in a liquid flow of foam back into the sea. The base was created for the artist by her friend and fellow artist, Jo Ann Duby.
Size: 14X5X4
The Caged Bird Sings - $1095
Within a cage of copper this Soapstone bird hovers, singing songs of wild dreams. This collaborative piece was started by Artist Gail Cucksey and given new life in this evocative presentation inspired by the writings of Maya Angelo.

The glorious lavender coloring of the talc glows like the early evening stars. The sculpture flows up from the textured anhydrate base and continues around the hole in the sky through which we can see the past if we care to look.
